I got the crazies at La Briche

A series of Illustrations I did over the top of some photos taken by Cara Stricker from around La Briche. I was trying to convey the feeling you get when cabin fever strikes and you get massively hyper and go crazy.

FeastnBeatsnTerrible names

A logo I designed for a terribly named festival, The font is Antrokas but I riffed on it a bit and changed the line thickness and added the little flourishes. They didn't end up using it - a very disappointing pattern that seems to be occurring lately, it seems the more I've started liking my own work the less clients have started to use my designs...perhaps I should just become an artist?

Sneaky Rita

A label I did for a cocktail mix. It didn't get used as they thought the mascot was too full figured and it was too detailed...I like my ladies big and my illustrations tiny soooooo I guess you could call it artistic differences.

moth collection

I've found some pretty cool looking moths around the place and have started my own pin board. It doesn't look nearly as cool as all the natural history displays that I really admire which usually are showcasing huge intricate butterflies, but I think my moths on a cork board have a certain charm.
I did a little logo for them aswell.

Fish Scale necklace

I made this necklace out of fish scales that I cleaned and dried. Can't remember what fish it was, but we had it for dinner the other day. It was my job to scale the fish and as the tiny opalescent shards were flying at my face and getting stuck in my hair, I though they were quite pretty.

The necklace is just fish scales pierced in the middle and strung onto white string, I did a bit of a photo shoot in the field next to the house, which was fun.

Wine Labels.

The first label was the one chosen for a new variation on The Lackey wines. I have to admit that I like my other (circle frame) one better, I find I'm often surprised at the choice clients make from the options I give them. (To be brutally honest with myself, looking back on these particular labels I don't like either.)

HOWEVER I do still like these wine labels, the first one was my favourite and I was sure they would pick it, But instead they chose the second one down, which was my least favourite. Tricksy little clients, always throw me for a loop. The third option is something that I think I would like to transform into being a bookcover, perhaps for a vintage period drama...

Green Books

When I was at uni, I really wanted to become a book cover designer.
I did a project where I put little tips I'd picked up while researching the industry on posters.

Baby sitters Club-arama

This movie was on tv the other day, it was released in 1995, and just looking at the clothes made me fully realise what a huge 90's revival fashion is going through at the moment as nearly all the clothes wouldn't be out of place at the local hipster hangouts.

This was my favourite screen grab, very very cute ^

I really dig the pink pants in this shot, it reminds me of the 2010 Miu Miu print ^

Plaid-a-palooza ^

So in conclusion, I'm definitely going to try and make those pink daisy pants, and those round tortoise shell glasses pushed me to the very edge of becoming one of those people that don't actually need glasses but wear non-prescription ones as fashion accessories. Who'da thunk that watching the babysitters club movie on a Wednesday night would prove inspiring.

La Briche Photos.

Can't wait to get back there.

Brichey.

While I was in France I did some logo development for the recording studio that Sam is planning to open. Just thought I'd show you guys the development stages of it, it's still not completely finished yet. The recording studio is on the farm which is surrounded by a forest and so the idea of nature needed to come through the design. Another point to remember was that the buildings on the farm date back quite a fair way, so there's a real traditional French feel to the place. Sam wanted to combine old and new, and also not have the logo only represent the recording studio but have it be versatile so it could represent any other venture that he plans to embark upon.

Can't decide whether it'd be the bad kind or the good kind of twee, if on the website the branches represented the current season, perhaps a few green leaves in summer, a flower or two in spring, barren like it is now in winter and maybe some dead leaves on the baseline for autumn, it's a thinker...
